The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified our reliance on information sharing, especially concerning health-related matters. However, the widespread dissemination of misinformation poses severe risks, particularly during a global health crisis. This consultation aimed to gather diverse perspectives on the rapid spread of misinformation and potential countermeasures.
During the panel discussion, experts delved into the implications of this “infodemic” and proposed solutions. While the dangers of misinformation were evident, the consultation provided a deeper understanding of its complexities. Moreover, the gendered perspective shared during the discussion highlighted the shortcomings in current regulations. It also shed light on the regulatory challenges and the necessary actions that both the Government and Intermediaries must take to ensure a secure online environment.
